Hindmarsh BreweryWe are located in the historic premises of the old Hindmarsh Brewery at 15 Richard Street Hindmarsh. The Brewery was established in 1859 by well known brewer Mr. E.J. F. Crawford before being taken over and operated by Messrs Haussen and Catchlove amongst others, and was last known as Haussen & Co Hindmarsh Brewery. It was one of the oldest breweries in Australia, and produced quality beers until 1927. The building features a network of tunnels that used to run in many directions from the central cellar, including one that is mooted to have run to the bank of the River Torrens. Articles about the Brewery are appended below, as are images that reflect its work and character over the years, such as labels of the classic brews including beauties like Half and Half, an Ale and Stout combination, and Newhaven Tonic Ale. Enjoy the trip into yesteryear.
