Zilzie Bulloak Shiraz X 6
Zilzie Bulloak Shiraz 2009
Colour: bright crimson with purple hues
Aroma: aromas of plum, red berry and spice with hints of pepper and charry oak
Palate: full fruit flavours of berries and plums balanced by background oak and silky tannins
Winemaking:
Parcels of Shiraz grapes from selected wine regions were fermented on skins in static and rotary fermenters with a neutral yeast strain to maximise primary fruit characters. A portion was co-fermented with Viognier to enhance the aromatics and tannin structure. After primary fermentation the wines were soft pressed and underwent malolactic
fermentation before being aged in American and French oak for six months. The wine was then blended and filtered prior to bottling.
Vintage Summary:
Mild weather conditions during December and January provided perfect ripening conditions leading up to the start of vintage on 15th January. With the harvest underway, ideal conditions continued until Australia Day where
temperatures started to rise. This led to a slowdown in intake which resulted in red varieties showing excellent structure and outstanding colour and fruit intensity.
